José Antonio Álvarez Cubero holds a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, in the Department of Mathematics Applied to Information and Communication Technologies. He is author and co-author of several articles in national and international journals and conferences. His research areas focus on Data Science and Cryptography. He did his high school at the I.B. “Gabriel Alonso de Herrera” in Talavera de la Reina, where he finished his studies without repeating a year and with an average grade of “A” in C.O.U.
In 2003, he entered the world of politics as a member of the Popular Party (PP) where he ran on the municipal lists headed by Senator Carmen Riolobos who did not win, but did become part of the municipal corporation of the City Council.
After remaining for three legislatures, the popular Gonzalo Lago Viguera, of whom José Julián was a great friend and trusted man,[citation needed] won the municipal elections of 2011, thus achieving the mayoralty. He thus became deputy mayor, spokesman of the municipal government and councilor of Culture, Festivities, Institutional Relations and Internal Regime. Due to his new appointments, he had to give up his teaching duties at the high school. He left his position as councilman in the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, when he was appointed in February 2012 subdelegate of the Government in Toledo.[2][3]
