Madrid, January 15, 2010. José Andrés Sánchez Pedroche is, since January 1st, the new Rector of the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA) -www.udima.es- . The former Vice Rector for Institutional Relations of UDIMA succeeds Luis Enrique de la Villa, who has been the Rector of the University since its creation in 2006.
In the words of Roque de las Heras, CEO of UDIMA, “We wish the new Rector, José Andrés Sánchez Pedroche, all the luck in the world, and wish him a period as successful as the one signed by Luis Enrique de la Villa. To Professor De la Villa, the entire University and myself, we convey our eternal gratitude for having led such a decisive and difficult period in any institution as its birth and start-up; UDIMA would not be the brand new reality it is today without his invaluable contribution”.

La Universidad a Distancia de Madrid, UDIMA, es una universidad privada online con sede en la Comunidad de Madrid, España. Ofrece cursos de grado y postgrado (máster y doctorado) mediante herramientas digitales online. Está situada en la localidad madrileña de Collado Villalba.
Fue aprobada por la Asamblea de Madrid en 2006. Supone el último paso en el crecimiento y ampliación del CEF – Centro de Estudios Financieros, creado en 1977, y el paso al nivel universitario. Fue la tercera universidad online de España y la primera privada.[1] Fue creada por la Ley 1/2006, de 14 de junio, de Reconocimiento de la Universidad Privada “Universidad a Distancia de Madrid”.[2] La actividad docente comenzó en el curso 2008-2009, tras las reformas de la Ley de Universidades.[3] Se inauguró entonces con cinco titulaciones de grado: Derecho, Administración y Dirección de Empresas, Ciencias del Trabajo y Recursos Humanos, Psicología y Turismo[4].
Durante el curso 2014-15 se reorganizó la estructura académica y docente y se crearon cinco facultades. De los primeros cinco grados en 2008 se pasó a dieciséis en el curso 2020-21, así como 30 másteres universitarios, 16 másteres profesionales, un doctorado, dos másteres interuniversitarios y 421 títulos propios de la UB a través de la colaboración con empresas[5].

The rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dr. Iván Grullón, received in his office the courtesy visit of representatives of the Business Group CEF. UDIMA, formed by the business school Centro de Estudios Financieros and the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid.
The visit was led by Dr. Roque de las Heras, president of the CEF Business Group, who expressed his satisfaction on behalf of the institution he heads for making a donation of books that will contribute to the academic development of UASD students.
Also present at the meeting were the dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Ramón Desangles; the director of the Pedro Mir Library, Jocelyn Polanco and the person in charge of Academic Exchanges, Dr. Rocío Billini.

During the 2014-15 academic year, the academic and teaching structure was reorganized, and five faculties were created. From the first five bachelor’s degrees in 2008, it went to the sixteen taught during the 2020-21 academic year, as well as 30 university master’s degrees, 16 professional master’s degrees, two doctoral degrees,[5] two interuniversity master’s degrees, and 421 own degrees through collaboration with companies.[6]
UDIMA has obtained positive verification of the official study plans presented to the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and has been authorized by the General Directorate of Universities to implement the degrees; the Agency for Quality, Accreditation and Prospective of the Universities of Madrid (ACAP) is the entity in charge of monitoring them.[7] UDIMA is a member of the European University Association.
Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, UDIMA is involved in 45 research projects with 20 research teams; it has 1 patent and has published 60 articles in indexed scientific journals. It also has 32 publications and 16 communications in conferences, forums and congresses[10].
